Science Day
Spring Term 2023
We celebrated World Scientist Day! We came to school dressed as a scientist and we had so much fun learning about different scientists. We explored the works of Archimedes by doing an experiment about floating and sinking. We looked at the germ theory by Joseph Lister who created antiseptic medicine. We did this by using glitter in a bag and when we put it on our hands and it stuck, we then shook hands with someone else to show how germs spread. Lastly, we looked at the life changing work of Marie Curie. We designed posters in our literacy lessons about our favourite scientist. We had such a great day!
Eco Team go to Morrisons
Spring Term 2023
The Eco Team visited Morrisons Whitefield for a Foodmaker and Shopkeeper Tour. On their tour they visited the fishmongers, the deli, the bakery, the butchers and the world food aisle. The children enjoyed learning about the different types of fish which are gutted and sliced to be put on display daily for customers to purchase. They tried some tasters of cheese and bread and even filled their own jam donuts to keep - they were yummy! Towards the end of the trip, the children chose 2 items from the world food aisle and discussed where these items originated from. Then, they scanned these on a till and completed a transaction in order to receive the full worker's experience. Once back at school, the children have shared what they have learnt with their peers about where food comes from and how it gets into our stores.

We found lots of fallen leaves in lovely autumn colours like red, brown and yellow and lots of seeds on the trees. As we walked through the wood we could hear the birds singing and we even saw a squirrel! We hope to go back to the woods in spring to see the changes that spring brings.
